Indep MO adventures
Now Playing: Dirty Vegas - Days Go By
Greetings from the midwest. Things are quite the adventure here, the Community of Christ seminary is different from VST, but there are also some surprising similarities.

I'm staying sane by not taking myself too seriously. As a result of a bus conversation at least a month ago, probably longer, Kat and I travelled to three stores to find L'Oreal Colour Pulse temporary hair dye - gone in 8-10 washes. Yesterday Kat, Kat's sister Mary, and I dyed our hair. Fun times. Mine is hardly noticeable because it's so dark to start out with. I am too lazy to go throught the process of putting pictures on here, so go to:

to see pictures of us and our hair. My colour is called "Copper Blast", but there's not much blasting going on on my head in the pics. There is also a picture of a beautiful storm cloud we saw during our layover in Denver.

I will try to remember to take pictures at conference and post them.

summer?
Now Playing: Radio Paradise, mmmmm...
So it's summer, I guess. The semester is done, (my computer, by the way, was saved by my trustworthy fix-it guy, I found him by chance, in the phone book of all places, and I don't think I'd trust my computer to anyone else at this point) which means summer should be here. However, with taking three summer school classes, plus writing a "floating exegesis" paper (I think it's best you just imagine what a floating exegesis is and leave a comment with your guess) I don't really feel like summer is here for real. I've been working nearly full-time too, which doesn't help instill a summer feeling.

However, the weather has been nice, a good dose of sun, which signals summer. On Sunday afternoon we went for a hike up a "small" mountain (small still means steep which means sore muscles the next day) with a bunch of my Mom's family in Chilliwack. The view was really spectacular and spending time with my aunts, uncles, and cousins is always a good time. And I think I will have to settle on yes, summer is here, because after our hike my aunt took us all out for ice cream at a little dairy that makes its own perfect waffle cones and its own rich, creamy ice cream. We sat outside at a picnic table to eat, and I think sitting outside at a picnic table licking ice cream cones is a definite sign that summer has arrived.

Hallelujah!

computer woes
Mood:  not sure
Now Playing: iTunes radio - groove salad
Yesterday morning I woke up ready to finish my big christology paper, turned on my computer, and it was acting strangely. So I restarted, even stranger. So I restarted again, even stranger. I attempted to restart one last time and it was as if Windows wasn't even there. I took it to the repair shop that saved my computer's life last time, and they tell me the outlook is not good. *sigh* So I had to restart the paper today. Thankfully my teacher and the dean are very understanding. It's harder to write using the family desktop computer that I can't haul down to the quiet room by the pool like I usually do with my laptop. But I am farther along in the paper now than I was before, even though I had to re-write a bunch of it, so that is good. The repair guy said it looks like everything on my hard drive has been erased, but if he were to reformat and load windows, it looks like it would work just fine. Very frustrating. I am sad about losing my work from this semester - the last time I backed up was January. But it's all just stuff, and I am very grateful for understanding teachers and a family computer to fall back on.

Today I bought a plane ticket to go to the Graceland Seminary course that I've registered to take in Indep MO in May-June. I am excited about going, it will be nice to have a change of pace for a bit. Kat will be great company I am sure, and it will be fun to finally take a class together! There is a lot of reading to do ahead of time, and a six page paper to write beforehand, so it's a lot of work, but I think it will be worthwhile.

Time to get back to writing my paper.

an entry for spring
Things are drying out here and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of this semester. Flowers are coming up and summer plans are being made, which all helps me crawl out of winter hibernation tiredness.

The most exciting thing that happenned this past week was that I got a new mattress for my bed. Up until now I was sleeping on a futon - which is not particularly comfortable. So I got a mattress and put it on top of the futon and I am much more comfortable now.

As for the summer, I am excited about going to Indep. MO for a Community of Christ seminary intensive in May/June. It should be a good time. I am also excited about being in Vancouver for the summer, I like summer here. I am also excited about going to Samish Island for camps. I've volunteered for lots of things because I am so happy to be around. Detroit was great last summer, but I really missed people here and the way things are in the summer here.

I have a "space" on MSN now that has lots of fun pictures, check it out if you want to see pictures of me, of stuff I'm doing, stuff I think is funny, and paintings I like:

If I were a country...

You're the United Nations!
Most people think you're ineffective, but you are trying to completely save the world from itself, so there's always going to be a long way to go. You're always the one trying to get friends to talk to each other, enemies to talk to each other, anyone who can to just talk instead of beating each other about the head and torso. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and you get very schizophrenic as a result. But your heart is in the right place, and sometimes also in New York.
